You've definitely heard his music before!
Born in Cali, Colombia in 1960, Kike began his music studies at an early age. Initially beginning by playing the accordion, Kike went on to learn the piano and guitar while later settling on the electric bass. His early music influences were derived from multiple genres including Colombian and South American Folklore, Bolero, Rock and American Pop, Classical Music and Jazz. By 1978 he was already playing Jazz professionally, throughout his hometown of Cali.
Kike's big break came about in 1994 when he joined forces with Emilio Estefan Jr. for the "Abriendo Puertas" album for Gloria Estefan. He wrote and co-produced all of the songs of the Grammy winner album; the first of more to come. Kike later on participated as a songwriter for Jon Secada's album "Amor" that also won a Grammy.
In 1995, Kike went on to write and produce two songs "Piel Morena" & "Me Faltas Tu" for Thalia's album "Extasis", which reached multi-platinum status. Thalia's follow up album "Amor a la Mexicana", in which he wrote and produced four tracks, would also reach multi-platinum status.
